Tracey L. Armstrong
President and Chief Executive Officer

Tracey Armstrong is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Copyright Clearance Center, bringing more than 20 years of experience in rights management with CCC to the industry. Leading the organization through a period of phenomenal change and challenge, Tracey has helped transform CCC's licensing solutions to meet the needs of today's digital publishing world.

Tracey works with publishers, authors, universities, businesses and industry associations around the world, addressing copyright concerns and establishing new alliances. In addition, she frequently speaks at industry conferences and events as a thought leader on digital copyright licensing issues.

Tracey holds an MBA from Northeastern University and serves on the board of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO).

Gretchen Gasser-Ellis

Gretchen L. Gasser-Ellis
Senior Vice President, Operations

Gretchen Gasser-Ellis is Copyright Clearance Center's Senior VP, Operations. Gretchen oversees Customer Service, Professional Services, the Project Office, Data Systems & Services, Library Staffing and Document Delivery.  Gretchen has been at CCC for more than 10 years, formerly as Vice President of Operations, Chief Information Officer, and Director of RightsLink. Prior to CCC, Gretchen worked in IT consulting at Waterfield Consulting Group and in project management roles at Camp, Dresser and McKee and DuPont. Gretchen has a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Boston University.

Frederic Haber

Frederic Haber
Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

Frederic Haber is Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Copyright Clearance Center. He is responsible for all of CCC's legal affairs, including the legal aspects of its copyright licensing business. He has participated in the development of each of CCC's licensing programs and counsels senior management in the development of new programs.

Prior to joining CCC, Fred was a senior attorney at the original corporate parent of the Macy's chain of department stores. Before that, Fred was of counsel to the New York City-based law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, practicing intellectual property, trade regulation and antitrust law. He holds bachelor's, master's, and law degrees from schools of Harvard University. Fred is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut.

Haralambos Marmanis

Haralambos Marmanis
CTO & Vice President, Engineering

Haralambos "Babis" Marmanis is Copyright Clearance Center's Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Engineering. Babis is responsible for driving the technology vision and the implementation of all software systems at CCC. He has over 20 years of experience in computing, with proven success in leading software development teams. Prior to CCC, Babis was the CTO at Emptoris, a leader of supply and contract management software solutions. He also worked at Zeborg, a provider of analytic software for expenses, and Truexchange, a real-time trading and risk management software system. He is a published book author in business and technology, and he also published numerous papers in academic journals and technical periodicals. Babis holds a PhD in applied mathematics from Brown University, and an MSc from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was the recipient of the Sigma-Xi innovation award and an NSF graduate fellow at Brown.

Michele R. Nivens

Vice President, Strategic Corporate Initiatives

Michele Nivens is Vice President, Strategic Corporate Initiatives, responsible for talent acquisition and development as well as compensation and benefits.  Prior to joining CCC in 2006, she served as the Vice President of Human Resources for from start-up to profitable post-IPO venture and merger to create Openwave. She also served as Vice President of Human Resources for BBN Systems and Technologies during the years of its Internet backbone build out and ultimate acquisition by GTE. Michele earned her master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and holds her bachelor of science in management from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Richard A. Ruf

Richard A. Ruf
Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

As Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, Richard Ruf is responsible for all of Copyright Clearance Center’s financial affairs, as well as royalty payments, sales operations, contract administration, and facilities.  Prior to joining CCC in 2000, he served as Controller of REP Environmental Processes, a subsidiary of RWE AG.  Richard was with Laventhol & Horwath, CPAs prior to joining the private sector.  Richard earned his MBA from Suffolk University, holds his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Virginia Tech, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Thomas M. Hamilton
Vice President, Business and Technology Affairs

Thomas Hamilton, VP Business and Technology Affairs, joined Copyright Clearance Center in December 2005 as CIO. Tom currently manages and is a major contributor to the company’s strategic and annual business plans in addition to managing Data Systems & Services and Canadian Operations. Tom was previously VP, Product and Systems Development / CTO for ProQuest Information and Learning, where he led the development of its PQ Next product platform. He came to ProQuest from MD Consult, where he was VP, Technology during its startup phase and launch. Tom began his career at LexisNexis, serving in a variety of editorial, software engineering and product management roles. Tom is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

Michael Healy
Executive Director, International Relations

Michael Healy is the Executive Director, International Relations, at Copyright Clearance Center.  Prior to joining CCC, Michael was Executive Director of The Book Rights Registry, and previously Executive Director of the Book Industry Study Group, a New York-based non-profit body dedicated to improving the efficiency of the book industry by providing standards, research, education and information.  Michael has worked in the book industry for more than 25 years and has spent most of that time in senior editorial, sales and distribution roles in digital publishing.  He has been closely involved in the development of standards for the international book trade, and is particularly associated with standards for metadata, product information and electronic commerce.  Michael has led many international standards groups, was Chairman of the International ISBN Agency, a Director of the International DOI Foundation, and led the international ISO committee that developed ISBN-13. He is currently a member of the Partners Board of the UK Copyright Hub.

Roy S. Kaufman
Managing Director of New Ventures

Roy Kaufman is Managing Director of New Ventures and is responsible for expanding service capabilities as CCC moves into new markets and services.  Prior to CCC, Roy served as Legal Director, Wiley-Blackwell, John Wiley and Sons, Inc.  He is a member of, among other things, the Bar of the State of New York, the Copyright and Legal Affairs Committee of the International Association of Scientific Technical and Medical Publishers and the UK's Gold Open Access Infrastructure Program.  He was the founding corporate Secretary of CrossRef, and formerly chaired its legal working group.  He has lectured extensively on the subjects of copyright, licensing, open access, text/data mining, new media, artists' rights, and art law.  Roy is Editor-in-Chief of Art Law Handbook: From Antiquities to the Internet and author of two books on publishing contract law. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and Columbia Law School.

Debra Mariniello
Vice President, Operations

Debra Mariniello is Copyright Clearance Center's Vice President, Operations. She is responsible for leading CCC’s Customer Service, Professional Services, and Project Management teams. Since joining CCC more than 15 years ago, Debra has held numerous leadership roles including Sr. Director, Product Management, Director, Rightsholder Relations, and Director, Transactional Products & Services. Debra received her Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University.

Vice President, Licensing and Business Development

Miles McNamee is Vice President, Licensing and Business Development, responsible for domestic sales and developing business development strategies for CCC’s existing and emerging businesses.  Miles joined CCC in 2008 from Starz Entertainment Group, where he was Senior Vice President of Affiliate Marketing.  He brings 20 years of experience in business development, sales and marketing from companies such as Microware Systems, TCI Cablevision, Continental Cablevision and Showtime Networks. Miles holds a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Bryant College.

Emily Sheahan
General Manager and Executive Director

Emily Sheahan is General Manager and Executive Director. Emily is responsible for Global Alliances, Marketing, and CCC’s enterprise-wide educational programming.  Emily joined CCC from HCPro where she was Group Publisher. In her role as Group Publisher, Emily drove strategy, research, development, production and profitability of products and services in a number of healthcare and regulation markets.  Earlier, she was with NBC News-KULR where she was Capital Bureau Chief.  Emily earned her Master’s Degree from Emerson College and she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communication from Ithaca College.

Kim Zwollo
General Manager

Kim Zwollo is General Manager, RightsDirect, responsible for building and leading the RightsDirect organization and driving the overall growth of the RightsDirect business across the globe. Prior to joining RightsDirect, Kim worked for Springer Science and Business Media in various international roles. Most recently he was Executive Vice President Sales for the EMEA region. Kim has also served in diverse sales and management roles for other media companies including Elsevier Science. Kim holds a master's degree in Medical Biology from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
